Lorraine is a classically trained lyric Soprano and is originally for Shanagolden in Co Limerick. She began her vocal tuition at the Kerry School of music at the age of thirteen with vocal coach Audrey O Carroll and following this Mezzo Soprano Maire Walshe and Mary Fulam in her native Limerick.In 2003 she became a member of the world renowned Bunratty castle entertainers at both Bunratty and Knappougue castles Co Clare. Lorraine was not only took part in choral ensemble but was also selected as a main soloist during performances at both castles.
Lorraine moved to Dublin in 2007 and took up part time vocal tuition with vocal coach Edith Forrest. In her quest for vocal excellence she entered into the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama in 2009 to complete a BMus vocal performance degree in which she recieved first class honours. While at DIT Lorraine continued her undergraduate studies with vocal coach Edith Forrest and Repetiteurs Aoife O’ Sullivan and Trudi Carberry. Highlights from her time at DIT include the Leo Maguire Trophy for Irish Song in 2010 and the coveted Louis Ely O’Carroll gold medal for song recital in 2013.
Lorraine was also the soprano soloist chosen to sing ‘What art can teach’ from Ode to St Cecilia’s day –Handel – to mark the retirement of the head of the vocal department Anne Marie O Sullivan at the DIT Conservatory of music and Drama in 2010. Lorraine has also taken part in DIT opera productions in the following roles of Tatyiana in Eugene Onegin, Ada in Die Fledermaus,Noemie in Cendrillon by Massenet and Venus in Orpheus and the Underworld – Offenbach. While at DIT Lorraine was also a member of the prestitious DIT Chamber Choir under the Baton of conductor David Brophy.
During her vocal and postgraduate studies Lorraine has been selected to partake in vocal masterclasses. She had been selected to work with Irish Mezzo Soprano Ann Murray and Mezzo Soprano Alison Browner, Italian Soprano Nucca Focile and New Zealand Bass – Baritone Jonathan Lemalu. Lorraine has performed for weddings, recitals and other musical performances in many beautiful and well known venues such as the National Concert Hall, Dublin,University Concert hall Limerick, St Finbarr’s Catherdal Cork, Ballintubber Abbey Co Mayo, St Ann’s Church, Dawson St Dublin.
Lorraine is also the recipient a master’s degree in Arts Management and Cultural Policy from UCD. While studying at UCD Lorraine is also the recipient of a performing arts scholarship from the prestigious Ad Astra Academy.Lorraine was an Ad Astra performing Arts Scholar for the duration of her studies at UCD.
